20.11.2007 - Ad Melkert, UN Under-Secretary General and Associate Administrator of UNDP visits the occupied Palestinian territory

Jerusalem - Ad Melkert, UN Under-Secretary General and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) ended a two-day visit to the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) yesterday. At a very delicate time in the complex political process, Melkert met with key counterparts to understand the magnitude of the development challenges facing the people of the oPt.

 

08.11.2007 - Inauguration ceremony for the reconstruction of the Qalandia Road section funded by the German Government and implemented by UNDP/PAPP

Ramallah - His Excellency Dr. Samir Abdallah, Minister of Planning of the Palestinian Authority, Mr. Jörg Ranau, the German Representative to the Palestinian Authority, and UNDP / PAPP Special Representative Jens Toyberg-Frandzen accompanied by the head of Qalandia Refugee Camp’s Popular Committee, Mr. Jamal al-Lafi, inaugurated the reconstruction of the road section between the Qalandia Refugee Camp and the Qalandia checkpoint on Thursday, 8 November, at 12:00.

09.08.2007 - Funded by the Islamic Development Bank - The Palestinian Authority and UNDP/PAPP launch a US$30 million micro-finance programme for deprived Palestinians

Ramallah - In a concerted effort to combat poverty in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) joined with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Labour and UNDP's Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People launched the "Deprived Families Economic Empowerment Programme" (DEEP). Dr. Mahmoud Al Habbash, Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Samir Abdullah, Minister of Planning and Labour, Mr. Mazen Sonnokrot, IDB Representative, and Mr. Jens Toyberg Frandzen, UNDP Special Representative attended the ceremony along with several NGO representatives.
